Bangladesh have received a major blow ahead of their tour of New Zealand. Star all-rounder and experienced campaigner Shakib Al Hasan has been ruled out of the three match ODI series due to a finger injury.
Shakib fractures his left ring finger
The left arm spin bowler had injured his finger while batting in the BPL finals. A pacy delivery from Thisara Perera had crashed onto his left ring finger in the 11th over of the match and then he got out on the very next ball.
Soon after the match a scan was done to check the severity of Shakib’s injury. Dr Debashis Chowdhury, the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s chief physician noted that an X-ray was done after the match and the results have confirmed a fracture on the left ring finger.
He explained that the affected area will now have to be immobilised for around three weeks and further assessment can be done after that.
Shakib’s series of injuries continue
The Bangladesh cricketer has faced several injuries in the recent times. His finger was injured in January last year which resulted in him missing some action. Then in November there was an infection around the injured area.
Shakib is crucial player for Bangladesh as his presence brings the much needed balance in the team. His left-arm spin bowling is highly effective while his batting skills strengthen the middle order.
